In the most recent Siena Poll of New York State registered voters, 54% of respondents support legalizing cannabis for recreational use compared to 40% who oppose. For Upstate and Union Households that support rises to 56%.
It is clear that the hardworking people who live in Upstate New York want a regulated marketplace capable of adding $5 billion of economic activity, good paying jobs, and new opportunities for entrepreneurs.
We would be very interested in the breakdown of Upstate farmers who support legalization. We know firsthand that NY producers, already known globally for our dairy products, apples, grapes, and more are ready to contribute some of the highest quality cannabis in the nation in a state that sees over 250 million visitors annually.
It is imperative that the New York State Assembly Majority, New York State Senate, and Governor Andrew Cuomo to pass a comprehensive bill in 2020.
